Following the press release by DSS that Chido Onumah was not arrested, Infotrust has reliably gathered that the DSS actually arrested the activist, questioned and released him but detained his T-shirt.
In a chat with Infotrust, Chido disclosed that he had to take off his T-shirt on the street as the DSS operatives insisted that they would not allow him to go with the T-shirt.

“Since DSS has insisted that I was never arrested, let’s agree with them. But they can’t deny that they detained my T-shirt which is the subject of controversy. I was asked to take off the T-shirt along the street and had to pull it off while I pulled out another shirt from my bag. My Tshirt is still in their custody as I speak with you.
Onumah returning from Spain on Sunday, September 29, 2019 where he recently bagged a doctorate degree in communication studies was accosted by DSS and taken into custody for few hours.
However, DSS through their PRO, Peter Afunanya, issued a press release denying the arrest. He said, “To set the records right, Onumah was never arrested by the Service. He was rather engaged in an interaction during which an act of his capable of undermining public order and national security was explained to him”.
Onumah has insisted that he would seek redress through the court and demand for his detained T-shirt
