The Democratic Front (TDF) heartily welcomes the official commendations from the governments and people of the United States of America and the United Kingdom, to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his administration, over the landmark achievement in the capture of prominent leaders of the Ansaru terrorists group in Nigeria.

TDF believes that the statements of commendation from the two countries that have grappled with the torments of international terrorism, than any other country in the world, is a well-merited and befitting tribute to Nigeria, in view of the successes recorded by President Bola Tinubu’s administration, in the ongoing war against terrorism and banditry.

Furthermore, the commendations from the two nations also underscores the significance of the capture of the two leaders of the Ansaru group in the global war against terrorism. Same way it will serve as a moral encouragement for the Nigerian government to do more in securing the lives of its citizens, and safeguarding the country’s territorial integrity.

This encouraging development should equally send a message to the Nigerian intelligence and security community, that the world appreciates their tireless efforts to rid Nigeria of terrorism, by ensuring public safety and security.

In recognition of this landmark victory against terrorism, TDF expects the governments of the United States of America and the United Kingdom, to desist from the use of intemperate and alarming words, when issuing travel advisories to their citizens living in Nigeria, because the Tinubu administration has satisfactorily displayed a solid commitment to the protection of human lives and material assets in the country. By this, we mean that their travel advisories should henceforth be issued in a diplomatic manner that would not scare foreign nationals and businesses away from Nigeria.

It should be noted that the challenges of terrorism is global. The world must not expect Nigeria to act exclusively beyond the capacity of its internal security architecture. The capture of the two terrorists leaders of Ansaru group, coupled with the annihilation of their sleeper cells and desert enclaves by security operatives, outrightly confirms that the Nigerian government is on top of its national security situation, despite prevailing challenges.

We therefore urge the National Security Adviser(NSA) Mallam Nuhu Ribadu to remain steadfast in his coordination of inter-agency operations for better intelligence gathering, resource optimization, and improved response to national security threats.

Finally, we call on our gallant defense and security forces to see the commendation from the U S and U K as a global endorsement of their efforts and avowed determination to rid Nigeria of terrorism. Bearing in mind that their success in eliminating threats to national security, will strengthen the unity of Nigeria, and guarantee her corporate existence as a federation.

Signed.
