Sources said the Commander of AKCS (Dragon Squad), SP Abdulhameed Awodi, led the operation, which resulted in the recovery of the car, a Toyota Camry with the number plate, KT 114 LH.

Our correspondent gathered that the squad, while on a patrol along the Atimbo/Akpabuyo Road, saw the Toyota Camry, which they suspected was stolen.

However, the driver sped towards the Bakassi area, as the operatives pursued and apprehended him.

The suspect’s employer reportedly lives abroad and employed him to guard his property and two cars.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Irene Ugbo, who confirmed the incident on Tuesday, said, “He was employed to safeguard a compound and some cars since the owner lives abroad. But he decided to try selling off one of the cars.
Unfortunately for him, men of the Anti-Kidnapping and Cultism Squad, who were on a patrol, suspected that the car was stolen and went after him. After his arrest, they discovered that he was trying to sell the car for a meagre N350,000. That car is about N3m. He has confessed to the crime and will be charged to court as soon as possible.”
