Craig Dawson scored two close-range headers as West Bromwich Albion piled the pressure on beleaguered Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger with a 3-1 victory in the Premier League on Saturday.

Dawson put West Brom ahead in the 12th minute, with substitute Hal Robson-Kanu restoring the hosts’ lead after Alexis Sanchez had equalised for Arsenal before Dawson netted his second goal with 15 minutes to play.

It was Arsenal’s fourth defeat in five league games and prevented them from eating into the five-point gap that separates them from the teams in the top four.

Wenger has come under fire since Arsenal’s 10-2 Champions League thrashing by Bayern Munich and was the subject of two plane banners — one critical, one supportive — flown over The Hawthorns during the game.

Compounding his disappointment, the Frenchman also lost goalkeeper Petr Cech to an apparent muscular injury during the first half, with David Ospina taking his place.
