The Chief Magistrate’s Court sitting in Agbor, Delta State, has sentenced a 25-year-old motorcycle thief, Daniel Nwandu, to one-year imprisonment with hard labour.

Chief Magistrate F.I. Dike said Nwandu would have been sentenced with an option of fine.

“But considering the spike in motorcycle thefts and other criminal cases, he will serve a one-year jail term with hard labour to serve as a deterrent to others who are engaging in the criminality,” the magistrate added.

The prosecution thanked the magistrate for the judgment, saying it would serve as a deterrent to unrepentant motorcycle thieves and others in the community.
