The former Commissioner for Finance and Economic Planning, Delta State, had buried his father in August 2021.

A source close to the family stated that Okapara had been advised to step down from his political ambition due to his health challenges but refused.

“He had been on dialysis and yesterday he became unconscious and couldn’t make it,” the source added.

Delta State Commissioner For Urban Renewal, Arthur Akpowowo confirmed the death on his official Facebook page in a post that read, “Eku will remember you for a long time to come. RIP Kenneth O. Okpara.”

At the time of filing this report, there has been no official statement from the family, and no cause of death has been revealed.
