The Vice Chancellor, Delta State University, Abraka, Prof Andy Egwunyenga, on Thursday vowed to sue any journalist that blacklists the institution for parochial interests.

This was contained in a press statement issued by the university’s Public Relations Officer, Mr Eddy Agbure, in which the VC decried insinuation of students’ exploitation allegedly made by an online reporter.

Egwunyenga maintained that there was never a time his administration or the institution exploited students of any payment of N4,000 for the production of school magazine as insinuated by the said online publication.

He described the report as “untrue and cheap blackmail meant to destroy the image of the institution.”

The PUNCH gathered that an online newspaper had early this week alleged that the DELSU Vice Chancellor and the Bursar exploited students of N4,000 for the production of magazine.

But the Vice Chancellor declared, “The University will not hesitate to sue whoever that takes to journalism of destruction and cheap blackmail without considering the rules of the game and ethics that guide the practice of journalism profession which is fair and balance reportage.”
The Vice Chancellor stated further that “The institution will spare no media house found wanton of such libellous story without carrying out a thorough investigation of the issues at hand before rushing to the press for publication and I will never join issues with those criminals.”
