In the last edition we will began a series on the few of the habits that enhance success in life; success in our spiritual, physical, financial lives. We are examining 21, I have discussed 7, let us conclude on this edition.
Eight, Action Oriented!
In life nothing moves until you move it. Paul says we cannot stay in sin and let’s say grace abound! God forbid! Take action and move out of where you are to get to where you are going. Everything is on a stationery state until there is a force to move it. You are the force. Take action! The people who succeed are people that try it out. The bible says we shall move from glory to glory, from victory to victory – No one gets victory without going to war. No one gets glory without accomplishing! Accomplishment comes from successfully completed activities, therefore, execute your plans. You have stayed on this mount for too long.
Nine, Persistence!
Action delayed is destiny denied and destiny denied is devils delight. Therefore, keep on keeping on until you get your desired result. Highly successful people see failure as a propeller; they keep on trying until they got their results. The bible says we should keep on asking until our joy is full. It’s a lesson in persistence. Every problem has a yielding point with which it cannot survive.
Ten, Service!
Highly successful people are people of service, they add value to people, they are passionate about what they give and not what they want to get. This was the principle Paul taught to the Elders in Ephesus in Acts 20:35 “I have shown you in every way by labouring (serving) like this, that you must support the weak. And remember the words of the Lord Jesus Christ that He said ‘it is more blessed to give that to receive”. You get what you want only when you give (you serve). Life rewards to the proportion of what you give. Therefore, live a life of contribution rather than life of collection.
Eleven, Decision!
Make up your mind and sincerely change it. Nothing becomes dynamic until it becomes specific. Joshua in Joshua 24:15 took a decision. …as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. You have to take a decision concerning your life. John warns against indecisiveness in Rev 3: 15-16. He emphasised that God hates indecisive people.
Twelve, Innovation!
Innovation leads to invention. Successful people use their creative power. But Lazy people do not have the potential for invention. Unfortunately,we experienced lots of laziness among the crop of younger this generation today. Theirs is a generation that wants everything to be done for them. Solomon presented us with lessons from the ants Proverbs 6 6-8 CEV.You Lazy people can learn by watching an anthill. Ants don’t have leaders but they store up food during harvest season. The greatest innovator we have ever come across is God. He has answers to all situations. He creates situations and changes situations. He is never a failure even when failure stares at Him. In Gen after creation, what he created was formless, and he was not dismayed, he started to create better situation from the worst scenario. And now he has created us in his image to keep on creating and raising ideas. So make changes!
Thirteen, Specialization!
Specialization brings excellence. To specialize is to be known for something. Highly successful people are known for something. They are focus. Focus is the key to understanding life. Mention Solomon and someone will tell you the wise King. Mention David, someone will tell you the great warrior who killed Goliath. Mention Joseph, and someone will tell you the dreamer who became the prime minister in Egypt. Mention your name, what are you known for? Discover your place, be a specialist, be a professional, and more opportunities use well will open more doors. Solomon in Proverbs 22:9 says,If you do your job well, you will work for a ruler, not a slave.
Fourteen, Excellence!
Read Also:
This is Good quality! Doing it better! Highly successful people are excellent people. In Daniel 5:12, we learnt that Daniel was given sprit of excellence. Excellence is a spirit from God. Excellence is made perfect in specialization. Excellence is made sure inself-development. Excellence is real in continuous practice. Excellence is a journey not a destination and you must become expert to create excellent. If excellence is your goal you don’t look at the cost.
Fifteen, Association!
Solomon warns, in Proverbs 13:20 that “He who walks with wise men will be wise, but the companion of fools will be destroyed”. David in Ps 1 1-3 “Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of the sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the Lord and his law he dictates day and night.” Successful people are very deliberate about who they associate with because it has direct impact on where they are going and what happens on the way to their success. Your kind of association could determine the kind of doors that will be opened for you. Don’t be sentimental about your destiny because your association also determines your destiny.
Sixteen, Prudence!
Prudence connotes effective use of the resources God puts at your disposal, for maximum impact. Solomon in Proverb 21:20 says, “There is a desirable treasure and oil in the dwelling of the wise, but a foolish man squanders it.” Develop capacity to effective and efficiently manage the resources very well. What are the resources God has given you? Money, Talents, Materials, potentials, gifts! How are you using them?
Seventeen, Integrity!
“Righteousness extol a nation; sin is a reproach”. To be highly successful we need to perfectly honest with God and to yourself. This is not the same thing as being perfect, but you do not try to deceive God and deceive yourself. We need to do things God’s way, being open before GOD, being faithful to God. Partial obedience is disobedience. When you miss it admit it
Eighteen, Time management!
Ecclesiastes 3 1-8 speaks about time and seasons of life. Our life is our time; therefore, maximize the use of your time. Spend time on what will give you result. Highly successful people spend their time on what will give them result. They do not major in minor. They see time as opportunity. They invest time do not use it. The value time more than money, because time to them cerates the money. They are sensitive to time and season of life and do not become frivolous about the time of their lives. David, one of the most highly successful people, says, “Teach us Lord to number our days that we may put our hearts in the path of wisdom”
Nineteen, Reproduction!
Success without successor is failure. Highly successful people do not only give birth but the make successors. They multiply themselves in people. This is not limited to your biological children but to also to those under you in your ministries and offices. Reproduce yourself in them. David installed his son while he was alive. God gave His power to his son Jesus. Paul gave birth to Timothy and told Timothy to multiply 2 Tim 2:2. Some of us are afraid to make successors, because of insecurity. Sam Adeyemi says “poverty brings insecurity… and insecurity breeds poverty.
Twenty, Renewal!
Successful take time to rest. They retreat for the work and refreshed. When you do not rest, you might be laid to rest. It may interest us to know that the indefatigable Jesus rested. He told his disciples … let’s get to a side and rest.
Twenty-one, Gratefulness!
Be grateful. Highly successful people give gratitude. They appreciate God; they appreciate the people who assisted them while on their way up. They see good sides of everything. Only those who are grateful are graceful.
Let me conclude with the same quote I started with, “Successful people have several attitudes in common. Their faith is greater than their fear. Their positive energy is greater than their negative. Their certainty is greater than their doubt. Their purpose is greater than their challenge. And they believe tier best days are ahead of them, not behind them.” John. E. Lang. If we observe to inculcate these habits success is not far from us. See you at the top.
