The Anambra State chapter of the Atiku/Obi Campaign Organisation (APCO) has faulted the state governor, Chief Willie Obiano, for his seeming commendation of the development strides of the President Muhammadu Buhari-led federal government in the Southeast geo-political zone, accusing the governor of being hypocritical and selfish.
The APCO Director-General in the state, Dr Harry Oranezi, in a statement issued to newsmen in Awka, the Anambra State Capital, yesterday, after an emergency meeting of the organisation at its state campaign headquarters, Awka, expressed worry over Governor Obiano’s seeming support for presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming general elections, stating that Obiano’s praises of Buhari’s development score-card ran counter to the latter’s “penchant to marginalise and discriminate against the people of the Southeast geo-political zone and Anambra State in particular.”
Governor Obiano is reported in some media, including traditional and online platforms, to have praised President Buhari’s administration for seeing to the eventual completion of the construction of the mausoleum as the final resting place of the first president of Nigeria, Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe, at the latter’s Inosi-Onira, Onitsha ancestral home, and, the progress attained in the construction of the much needed Second Niger Bridge.

The APCO Anambra State director-general, in the statement he issued, rather described Governor Obiano’s commendation as an action taken to gain personal favor from the President Buhari-administration.
The statement partly read, “Atiku- Obi Presidential Campaign Organisation, Anambra State chapter, has decried the uncritical adulation of President Muhammadu Buhari by Anambra State governor, Chief Willie Obiano, over the fangled development of Southeast geopolitical zone, which can, at best, be described as a subtle campaign of undeserved goodwill bearing in mind the injustice, inequities and discriminatory propensities of the Buhari court against the Southeast geo-political zone.
“Take for example, Buhari has continued to maintain studied silence over the massacre of innocent Southeasterners in the North, the high-handedness mistreatment of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) leaders, strategic exclusion of Southeast in rail connection, security architecture of the country and sundry appointments.
“The Igbos shall not be deceived by the actions and utterances of persons who want to achieve ill-conceived objectives and will certainly demonstrate their preference for good governance and strive to make Nigeria work again”, Oranezi stressed.
The director general applauded the wife of the former chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Ambassador Biancah Ijukwu, “for speaking out against bad leadership and admonished lovers of Ndigbo to emulate Bianca Ojukwu and not to stoop to grovelling inclination.”
