The commissioner urged residents to go out to perform their civic responsibilities without fear as adequate security measures had been put in place before, during and after the elections.

He said that close to 10,000 policemen were deployed to ensure that voting materials, INEC officials and residents were protected.

” We have provided police patrol teams in areas considered to be flash points   in the state.

” We have also stationed a standby patrol team at the headquarters in case there is need for quick deployment of personnel to assist those outside the station.

“The 10 area commands in the state are out there to serve the people of the state and all our personnel have been fully mobilised, including a   medical team, and we have been able to cover all the polling units in the state,” Olukolu said.

He said that the synergy between the police and other sister agencies in the state was excellent and would   ensure there was no crisis on the election day.

The commissioner   advised those planning to cause crisis to have a rethink, saying the police would deal decisively with them according to the law.

Olukolu called on politicians to obey   the rules and shun acts that could lead to breakdown of law and order.
