Former Super Eagles player, Mutiu Adepoju, has advised the CHAN Eagles not to underestimate any country at the 2018 African Nations championship, which kicks off tomorrow in Morocco.

Adepoju noted that the performance of the team in the African tournament would be a reflection of the calibre of players in the Nigeria Premier league, just as he urged the players to go the extra mile to justify that Nigeria league is among the best in the continent.

The ex-Racing Satander of Spain player, also called on the CHAN Eagles to fight like wounded lions to out shine all their opponents, saying that the standard of African football has improved over the years.

He declared that Nigeria has what it takes to excel at the CHAN tournament, if the Eagles coaches select the right players to prosecute the matches.

Adepoju, however, called on football loving-Nigerians to support the team in the tournament.

“The CHAN Eagles should work hard to win the opening game against Rwanda. The tournament would be tough because of the standard of African football at this moment is on the high side. Excelling in Morocco would go a long way to show the entire World that Nigeria football is still among the best in Africa.

“At this moment, I can not predict the team can get to the final of the Africa championship until after the opening game. But with the level of preparations of the team, I believe the players are in high spirit ahead of the championship. CHAN Eagles should go for victory in all their games to put Nigeria football on a good light in Africa,” he said.

Nigeria will battle Libya, Equatorial Guinea  and Rwanda in group C at the Africa championship, which is solely for domestic league players in the continent.
