Chief Jubril Dotun Sanusi, the Okanlomo Oodua and renowned philanthropist, has called on residents of Oyo State to approach the 2027 general elections with wisdom, vigilance, and a strong sense of civic responsibility.
In a message addressed to various groups across the state, including traders, artisans, labour unions, pensioners, teachers, healthcare workers, farmers, students, traditional leaders, youths, and community security stakeholders, Sanusi urged voters to carefully evaluate the character, integrity, and track records of political aspirants before casting their votes.
He cautioned against what he described as “use-and-dump politics,” where politicians engage with the electorate only during election periods, making promises that are quickly abandoned after securing power.
According to Sanusi, Oyo residents must remain wary of leaders who fail to honour commitments, betray public trust, and demonstrate little concern for the welfare of ordinary citizens. He stressed that leadership should be defined by service, accountability, compassion, and respect for the people rather than personal ambition or self-promotion.

The philanthropist further advised voters not to exchange their votes for temporary inducements, warning that the future of Oyo State should not be entrusted to individuals with records of broken promises and disregard for human dignity.
Sanusi emphasized the importance of supporting leaders who have consistently demonstrated integrity, commitment to public welfare, and respect for agreements, noting that proven service and character should outweigh political propaganda and empty rhetoric.
Highlighting the contributions of workers, traders, farmers, teachers, students, traditional institutions, professionals, youths, elders, and community development advocates, he said the strength and progress of Oyo State depend largely on the collective efforts of its people.
He therefore called on citizens to remain united in their pursuit of justice, truth, accountability, and good governance as the state prepares for another electoral cycle.
In an emotional appeal, Sanusi urged voters not to forget past experiences when political campaigns intensify, encouraging them to remember leaders who stood by the people during difficult times and those who failed to deliver after assuming office.
He expressed optimism that wisdom would guide the choices of the electorate and that future generations of Oyo State would look back with pride on the decisions made in the 2027 elections.
