The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) will soon declare Femi Thomas, for‎mer executive secretary of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), wanted for alleged money laundering. ‎
The former NHIS boss was named in a $2.1m money laundering case involving a bureau de change operator who was caught at Murtala Muhammed airport in July while allegedly trying to smuggle the cash out of the country.
The suspect reportedly named Thomas as the owner of the money. Wilson Uwujaren, spokesman of the EFCC, confirmed on Thursday that the commission would soon declare Thomas wanted since he was yet to respond to invitation. ‎Thomas, a cardiothoracic surgeon and former commissioner in Ekiti state, was sacked in April by President Goodluck Jonathan.
