EL Marino Sports Club Lagos has retained Mr. Anthony Akamagwuna as its team manager, just as Charles Igbinidu is still the secretary general.

In its election held recently in Asaba, Paul Asamota became the Deputy secretary general, while Ignatius Njoku was voted in as team captain.

Other officials elected in the polls are Edirin Yubvovwre (Financial Secretary), Babatunde Adebayo, who will serve as welfare secretary and Godwin Edomaruse, deputy welfare secretary, amongst others.

Meanwhile, the Team Manager, Akamagwuma has advised Super Eagles Head Coach, Gernot Rohr to infuse more local players into the national team, stressing that talents abound in the Nigerian local league if properly evaluated.

Speaking after the election, Akamagwuna said, “although the Super Eagles are doing well at the moment, there is still need for the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and the national team coach, Gernot Rohr to properly access our local league for local players that can be invited to the Super Eagles team.

“I believe that there are talents there who can replace our aging players. What they need is an opportunity to prove themselves and build their confidence.”

Akamagwuna also called for the rejuvenation of the moribund Principals Cup football competition for secondary schools, explaining that it is a viable platform for the discovery of raw talents and also an effective tool for football development in the country.
