…..Akeredolu thanked Ondo people
………….Ibrahim Jimoh congratulates Akeredolu, says Jegede lost because of Fani Kayode support
INEC has awarded itself passmark for the peaceful conduct of the election conducted in Ondo yesterday.
In a statement by INEC deputy director of voter education and publicity, Mr Nick Dazang, they denied the manipulation of the result of the election conducted yesterday to favour the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In his words, “The results collation right from the ward level to the local government and state level are being monitored by stakeholders, including journalists, observers and political party agents among others.
“It is not possible for anybody to manipulate election results with the way we have articulated the process.
“People and stakeholders who are there were also given the copies of the results as they are collated; they can use that against what is finally declared.
“The times when election results are being manipulated are over. It is not possible again because you can now trail the process.”
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) however reports that the INEC deputy director of voter education and publicity, Mr Nick Dazang, said: “The election is generally peaceful. We were able to open at all the polling units, even in places that have challenges of terrain including Ilaje.
“The election was peaceful, courtesy of the security agencies; even though we had some smart card reader’s failure, they were only 11, not up to one per cent of the total number deployed. The percentage is infinitesimal.”

Dazang also said the commission acted immediately to resolve the problem where it was reported. He further noted that the card reader at the polling unit where Jegede voted failed and it was replaced immediately.
The governor-elect in his reaction to his victory thanked the people of the state for considering him worthy to be their governor.
One of the first reactions came from prominent lawyer, Festus Keyamo, who posted his message on Twitter.
According to Keyamo, “With d result of Ondo state, the PDP should know by now that rebranding goes beyond mocking the APC with a musical video of apes playing guitars.”
Jimoh Ibrahim, the businessman who was a factional candidate of the PDP until the ruling of the Supreme Court, used the opportunity of his congratulatory message to mocked former aviation minister and critic, Femi Fani-Kayode.
While congratulating Akeredolu, Ibrahim said he knew Jegede would lose for allowing the support from Fani-Kayode.
“I had no doubt that Jegede would lose as Femi Fani-Kayode was supporting him. If you want to win any election, pay Femi not to support you,” he said.
“I have no doubt that you will urgently create hope for our people; kindly do whatever you can to assist your lovely civil servants. I saw poverty in those villages I visited during campaign. Please kindly assist traditional rulers as much as you can.”
He also warned Akeredolu to stay away from Governor Olusegun Mimiko of the state. “I will advise you to quickly maintain distance from Mimiko if you want to succeed,” he said in a Twitter message.
