After initial disagreement over fees, the U. J. Esuene Stadium, Calabar has been leased out to Enyimba Football Club of Aba thus confirming the complex as the official venue for its league and continental matches.

The Enyimba management and the Cross River State Sports Commission were in disagreement over fees for this year’s leases, but after due processes, the matter was settled.

The Chairman of the Commission, Otuekong Orok Duke in a joint briefing with top  Enyimba officials at the stadium on Tuesday evening said: “I want to confirm that  we have worked out and we have accepted and actually written to them confirming our readiness and willingness to host Enyimba for the 2018 season.

He said the lease was for both the League and CAF Championship, and there is no disagreement whatsoever. “No argument whatsoever and all hands are on deck to make sure they succeed as it was last year.”

On his part, the chairman of Enyimba FC, Chief Felix Ayansi said: “coming to Calabar is our second missionary journey and Calabar is our home and I am glad Enyimba is referred here as Enyimba of Calabar. We have played matches here and we always succeeded, so Calabar is a beautiful place that has welcomed us. We feel much at home and the bond between us and Cross River State can not be separated.”
