Plateau United, MFM, Akwa pray for miracles
One of Nigeria’s representatives in the CAF Confederation Cup, Enyimba of Aba has urged football lovers in and around Calabar to mass at the U.J Esuene Stadium to cheer the team to victory when it confronts South Africa’s Bidvest Wits in the last qualifying round for the group stage tomorrow.

Enyimba held the South Africans to a 1-1 draw in Johannesburg in the first leg and the team officials have decided to throw the gates open to fans in a bid to ensure massive support in the decisive leg.

According to the team in statement, the decision by its management is a gesture of appreciation to the people of Calabar for their stellar support and solidarity.

“We want them to come out and enjoy a great game with us, to share in our moment of victory,” said club Chairman, Chief Felix Anyansi Agwu.“As they have always accepted us as their own, we invite the beautiful people of Calabar to come out and cheer on the team as we march into the Confederation Cup Group Stage.”

Enyimba has made a home out of the U.J. Esuene Stadium, Calabar since 2017 and will be once again banking on a massive support ahead of the second leg against the reigning South African champions tomorrow.

The others, including Plateau United, MFM and Akwa United have huge mountains to climb to get to the group stage, but they still have mathematical chances of advancing beyond this stage.

Plateau United could only manage a 2-1 win over USM Alger of Algeria and need to avoid defeat in Algiers lose by scores not higher than 3-2 or 4-3. A one-goal loss will see it out of the competition on the away goal rule.

MFM must beat Djoliba of Mali away from home to advance to the group stage having lost the home leg in Lagos by a lone goal. Akwa United has a realistic chance of making it to the group stage, but it must cancel the 0-2 goal deficit it incurred in the first leg of bits tie against Al Hilal of Sudan in the away leg.
