Enyo Retail and Supply Limited (ERS), a joint venture between Folawiyo Energy Limited, and Glencore Plc, a fast-growing fuels retailing company with retail outlets in five states across the country, has formally launched its Mechanics and Technicians Academy (MECHTECH).

The MECHTECH initiative seeks to empower up to 5,000 auto-mechanics across the country with the technical know-how required for correct diagnosis and the repair of automobiles with the latest technological advancements.

The Auto-Mechanics would go through an intensive 10-week training course facilitated by ERS training partners, Automedics and Castrol (marketed by Eterna Plc), where they will be equipped with relevant technical and marketing/branding skills.

This academy aims to alleviate perennial technical hiccups experienced amongst auto-mechanics in Nigeria, thus eliminating poor diagnosis and the fear of electronic complexities in modern vehicles.

Commenting on the launch, Chief Executive Officer, ERS, Abayomi Awobokun, said: “The skills they would acquire would not only limit them to basic technical experience but also allow for greater job opportunities and education to impact other upcoming auto-mechanics in the near future.”
