Everton signaled their intentions of challenging for a top four position with a flurry of activities on the closing day of the English Premier League’s transfer window.
The last days of the window saw Chelsea’s number one goalkeeper, Thibaut Courtois joining Real Madrid prompting the Stamford Bridge side to break the world record for a goalkeeper with £72 million deal for Kepa from Atletico Bilbao. Chelsea also got Mateo Kovacic on a one-year loan from Real Madrid.

But the last day of the window belonged to Everton, who made a triple swoop for Chelsea’s Kurt Zouma, Bernard, Yerry Mina and Andre Gomes from Barcelona, with Arsenal’s Lucas Perez signing for West Ham. Arsenal’s goalkeeper David Ospina has also moved to Besiktas. The Colombian fell down the pecking order at the Emirates after the signing of Bernd Leno from Bayer Leverkusen.
Newcastle finally got a player on deadline day with Federico Fernandez joining Rafa Benitez’s squad, just as Leicester City signed Freiburg’s Caglar Soyuncu after tying striker Jamie Vardy to a new four-year deal.
Wolves got Leander Dendoncker, just as Fulham also signed three players in Sergio Rico, Joe Bryan and Luciano Vietto.
Domingos Quina, who was mooted to be joining Barcelona, signed for Watford from West Ham instead for a fee understood to be around £1 million plus add-ons.
