Expo to explore bilateral solutions to infrastructural deficits

Organizers of an international construction and building exhibition, Elan Expo, have expressed readiness to use its forthcoming exhibition to explore bilateral relationships that will provide sustainable solutions to infrastructural challenges in the built and construction industry.

Scheduled for 2nd-4th, November, 2017, the exhibition according to the firm, is expected to open up investment opportunities in the nation’s built industry as well as other value chains.

According to the organizers, Nigeria’s development rate is high and the federal government supports investments to make this growth sustainable.

The Project Coordinator, Nigeria Build Expo, Jude Chime, at a press briefing to announce the exhibition, explained that the Nigeria build expo, will bring together important building professionals of Nigeria, international manufacturers around the world, services and technologies providers to explore opportunities in one of the fast developing sectors in the country.

He added that there has been a rapid growth in the last 20 years in the construction industry and important projects in the country, adding that the build expo was considered in a bid to meet the growing demands in the sector.

Citing the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) report, Chime said the annual growth in the construction sector is 13 percent, attributable to 2020 and 2043 master plans of the state.

“According to these plans, infrastructure investments, renewable energy, housing projects, production facilities, health and education complexes will be finalized until 2043 and these entire projects positively affect national construction sector.

“All these developments take the interest of foreign companies to Nigeria. The companies that want to take part in Nigeria market are looking for new partners in the country. BuildExpo gives investors the opportunity to take part in this growing market”, he added.

On his part, the General Manager, ElanExpo International Trade Fairs, Nihat Suer AY explained that this year’s expo is hinged on stronger international partnership with delegations from Egypt, Turkey, Poland, India, Italy, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, China among others.

“It will bring together important professionals around the world. This event will give us opportunities to network with foreign investors and explore other areas of investments apart from oil. The workshops have also been certified by professionals.

“Sharing knowledge is the key for development. That is why Elan Expo brings all sector together for development with sectoral workshop. Build workshop will continue during three days and sectoral issues will be added to agenda by well-known speakers.

“Speakers from ACEN( Association for Consulting Engineering in Nigeria), NSE ( Nigeria Society of Nigeria), NISTRUCTE ( The Nigerian Institution of Structural Engineers), APWEN (Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria), COREN(Council For The Regulation Of Engineering In Nigeria), NITP (Nigerian Institute of Town Planners) take part in workshops”, he added.

General Secretary of the Nigerian Institute of Building (NIOB), Fadil Elegbede explained that knowledge-sharing among participants will further help to address issues of sustainability in the built industry.

The incoming President of the Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria, Mrs Felicia Agubata and the vice-chairman, Nigerian Institute of Mechanical Engineers, Lagos Chapter, Mrs Funmi Akingbagbohun, expressed commitment of the professional bodies towards the expo, adding that stakeholders will continue to explore solutions to infrastructural gaps in the country.
