During the stakeholders meeting with registrars and pro-Chancellors of Agric universities on Tuesday in Abuja, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Chief Audu Ogbeh made it clear that the Federal Government has banned the admission of students who do not have farming interests into its Universities of Agriculture.

He said the decision was to re-position the institutions with a view to involving youths in agriculture and essentially training them to proffer solutions that would benefit the nation.
Also the Federal Government’s decision to relocate its three Universities of Agriculture from the Federal Ministry of Education to Agriculture, was to refocus the schools as globally acclaimed citadels to move the agriculture sector forward.
Minister Ogbeh also said that non-agriculture-based courses would no longer be taught in the institution and only agriculture-related disciplines to be taught.
