FCBESCOLA Lagos Academy 2017/18 session was declared open at a parents’ forum held at the temporary headquarters, Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere. The academy session, which is the third in a series, offers students between five to 18 years the opportunity to learn the values and methodology of FC Barcelona, whose brand of football is known and well respected worldwide.

According to the organisers, the primary objective of the new session was aimed at developing the rich talents that are everywhere in the country, without compromising the FC Barcelona globally acceptable values of teamwork, honesty, ambition, good leadership attitude and commitment among others.

Speaking to the parents at the occasion, the academy’s Technical Director, Bernat Villa, expressed satisfaction over the progress made in the last academic session.

“From our experience of the last session work so far, we have discovered that there are a lot of young talents with the passion to be future legends. This season, we will go the extra mile to discover and grow talents and expose them to more tested global tournaments, which are of immense value to all parties involved,” he said, adding, “we hope to achieve this new vision without relegating the teaching of the Barca values to the background.”

In the words of the Talent Management Team Coordinator, Benedicta Nwagwu, she said aside the student’s individual skill, talents, knowledge and experience of the game, the attitude which the academy rates very high is key, adding that this must be principally developed for the academy to achieve its desired result, living the academy’s visioners’ dreams.

The Chief Executive Officer of the academy, Mr. Leslie Oghomiernor, expressed gratitude to the Lagos State government, parents and the management team towards the growth of the project.

“For us to come this far, it is because of the passion, commitment and the uncommon support of all the stakeholders, particularly the parents and guardians of our future legends. Their support made us and in their success we measure our pride” .

“In agreement with the school calendar for 2017/2018 session, our focus now is to pursue talent discovery and development with all our strength. This passion informed the Elite 96 Scholarship Project. The only thing you need to qualify for the award which is applicable to both the academy’s students and non-students, is good attitude and exceptional talent,” Oghomiernor said.
