FG installs 90MVA facility to boost power supply in Bayelsa State |

FG says no going back on 20,000MW transmission capacity by 2021

The Federal Government has upgraded the existing 2×40 Mega Volt Ampere (MVA) in Bayelsa Transmission Substation with the installation of a 90MVA capacity transformer to boost electricity supply in the state.

The project, situated in Gbarantoru area, was sanctioned in 2014 for a revised contract sum of over $3.8 million.Speaking during the inspection visit of the officials of the Federal Ministry of Power, Works and Housing, the General Manager, Transmission Company of Nigeria, Port Harcourt Region, Solomon UyoUko, intimated newsmen that the intervention came at the right time, as the substation was only using 40MVA transformer due to damage to the second.The project has been completed and now ready for evacuation of power into the Bayelsa distribution network, he added.
