Four firms have appealed against the Monday judgment of the Federal High Court in Lagos which ordered the permanent forfeiture of the sums of N9.2bn and $8.4m linked to Patience, the wife of former President Goodluck Jonathan.

The four firms – Finchley Top Homes Limited; AM PM Global Network; Pagmat Oil and Gas Nigeria Limited; and Magel Resort Limited – are praying the Court of Appeal to reverse the forfeiture order made on Monday by Justice Mojisola Olatoregun.

Joined as respondents in the appeal filed through their lawyer, Chief Mike Ozekhome (SAN), are the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission; Patience, Globus Integrated Services; and Esther Oba.

At the instance of the EFCC, Justice Olatoregun had on Monday ordered that the N9.2bn and $8.4m be permanently forfeited to the Federal Government.

Contrary to Patience’s claim, the judge had held that she could not but agree with the EFCC that the funds were proceeds of unlawful activities. [PUNCH]
