Film producer, Aarinola Odimayo, will have her first movie, Memoirs of 4 in the cinemas in a few weeks. The movie, which centres on friendship, love, and bonding, tells the everyday live story of people with diverse personalities.

According to the executive producer and writer, “as women, we usually like to breakup friendships at very little things. So, I try to show our folk that when we say we are friends, we can’t all be the same. In that diversity we must be able to still respect friendship.

I also try to buttress the efficacy of prayer and the power in togetherness. If you have a problem and I have too and we try to keep it to ourselves, we will never get a solution. In as much as we find it difficult to tell people our problems, but then most of the solution lies out there.”

Directed by Alex Mouth, the movie stars Adesua Etomi-Wellington, Blossom Chukwujekwe, Tina Mba, Joseph Benjamin and Remi Surutu; it was shot in two years. Odimayo noted that she wasn’t satisfied with the first cut and proceeded to add more scenes.

Even though it cost her more to get the production ready, the first-time producer said financing the project after almost a year, recalling the cast and paying all over again was challenging, but said she was focused on ensuring that the movie stands out.

While recalling her sojourn into movie making, the University of Ilorin trained lawyer and solicitor, said: “I gradually started writing my thoughts down about five years ago and putting faces and characters to them, writing in such a way that the thoughts become a story.

Unfortunately, I sold two of my scripts that yielded no return and most of all there was no acknowledgement for my work. So, I decided to go into production to ensure my script comes to reality.”
