FTAN President, South-South VP Visits Abitto Ferry Jetty In Calabar

The National President, Federation of Tourism Associations of Nigeria (FTAN), Mr. Nkereuwem Onung accompanied by the FTAN Vice President (South-South), Mrs. Justina Ovat paid a brief visit to Abitto Ferry Jetty in Calabar on Sunday, June 2, 2024.

Onung said the essence of the visit was to congratulate Mr. Richard Akinaka and Abitto team for the wonderful gesture. Also to ascertain the safety standards on ground for the passengers and tourists who shall be travelling from Abitto Ferry Jetty in Calabar to Nwaniba Timber Beach in Uyo.

Welcoming the team, General Manager, Abitto Ferry Jetty, Gloria Samuel said the ferry’s construction involved 90% of locally manufactured products in Henshaw Town, Calabar with top-notch quality products that also meets international safety standards.

She stated further that the ferry was designed for passengers comfort, providing relaxing environment to travel between Cross River and Akwa Ibom States.

“With our well structured and reliable time-table, passengers can plan their days with confidence, knowing that our ferries will run on time”, Gloria said.

In her remarks, FTAN Vice President, (South-South), Ovat lauded the management of Abitto Ferry Jetty on the transportation initiative.

“This ferry operations will promote tourism activities with good opportunity for passengers and tourists to enjoy the breathtaking views of the Cross River and Akwa Ibom States landscapes. It will also be an avenue to experience water tourism”, Ovat said.

Concluding, FTAN president, Onung admonished Abitto Ferry service management not compromise on safety procedures and ensures that the ferries are well serviced as at when due and go through proper inspection before sailing.
