Super Eagles Manager, Gernot Rohr will not invite new players to the national team when final preparation for the World Cup begins, officials of the team have disclosed.

The Super Eagles will begin the final phase of preparation for the World Cup next month.

Speaking through Super Eagles Media Officer, Toyin Ibitoye said yesterday that Rohr has foreclosed the invitation of new players because it would be difficult for him to start working with new legs a few months to the World Cup.

He revealed that Rohr is currently in Europe monitoring the players in his squad, adding that the Franco-German was working to ensure he assembles a solid team for the championship.

Ibitoye revealed that Rohr is looking at assembling the best legs from his current pool of players and training them to meet World Cup standard, adding that the international tune up matches lined up for the team would also give the coach the opportunity to weigh all his options.

“Rohr is currently in Germany monitoring and following up on players that have been part of the Super Eagles team before. He cannot invite new players to the Eagles now because it is too late for the coach to start training them to play according to his philosophy. He will release the list of players for the tune up matches next month.

“I want to state here that it is not true that the coach is still looking out for new players,” he said.
