Commercial sex workers at Sunyani in the Brong Ahafo region will soon increase the fees they charge clients due to the upward adjustment of fuel and utility tariffs.
According to them, the tough economic condition in the country is having a negative impact on their trade in the Municipality.
One of the commercial sex workers who spoke to Ark FM’s Kwaku Abrampah on condition of anonymity explained that, prices of goods and services have gone up hence the need for a rise.
She indicated that the GHȼ30 for a short time service GHȼ50 or GHȼ100 for all night session respectively will be reviewed in the coming days.
“Prices of wigs, clothes, rent, water and electricity bills have all gone up so we need to increase our fees to make ends meet” she stated.
The lady of the night expressed worrying at the worsening socio-economic which had led to increase of everything including condoms.
She appealed to their patrons to bear with them since it is the only way for them to survive.
“This is the only way we can survive as the fuel price hike has left in its trail increasing cost in food, transport and general standard of living,” they stressed.
The sex worker also bemoaned the low patronage due to the economic conditions and called on government to expedite action to bring some respite to Ghanaians.
