Gov. Godwin Obaseki of Edo on Wednesday in Benin swore in Mrs Omua Alonge as Commissioner for Environment in the state.
Obaseki charged the new commissioner to bring her wealth of experience to bear on her new job to ensure positive changes in the environment of the state.
He expressed optimism that with her background in the environment, Edo would no doubt record a positive turn around in the sector soon.
The governor advised the new commissioner to eschew acts capable of eroding the progress being recorded in the state.

He said that his administration was in a hurry to transform the environment of the state.
Obaseki further said that the choice of the commissioner was part of political balancing in the state.
“We did not feel it was right that Owan West Local Government Area was not represented in our cabinet and your joining us is for service and not for self-enrichment,’’ he said
Alonge thanked the governor for the confidence reposed in her and pledged her loyalty to the administration.
She also pledged to engage youths in protecting the environment and work in line with the state government’s programme of “Keep Edo Clean Project’’.
