Osun State Governor Adegboyega Oyetola yesterday ordered an investigation into the death of seven members of a family in the Ogbeso area of Isokan local council.
The family members were said to have died in their sleep.
Residents of the community deserted the area following the death amid speculations that the family may have inhaled some poisonous substances.
One of the children survived, it was said.
In a statement, Health Commissioner Dr Rafiu Isamotu sympathised with the community over the death.
Dr, Isamotu said Governor Oyetola has ordered that an autopsy be carried out on the bodies to ascertain the cause of death.
“The government also reiterated its commitment to security and welfare of its citizens and that it would go the whole hog to unravel the circumstances leading to the mysterious death.
The bodies of the deceased family members were discovered on Tuesday morning.
The police command said the head of the ill-fated home was Sergeant Saheed Oyewole.
