Ahead of the 2019 elections, a Not-for-profit and grassroots advocacy organisation, the Greater Onitsha Foundation GOF wants the election to free and credible in Nigeria.
The organisation urged the electorate to ensure credible people are put forward for leadership positions with a view to establishing quality leadership, transparent governance as well as an effective and efficient representation which would benefit the people of Onitsha and Anambra state as a whole.

Founded by a group of twelve professionals; Abada Iwuchukwu, Austin Nonso Areh, Barrister Arinze Odiari, Sir Ejoor Ibeziakor, Victor Enwezor, Robert Onyejekwe, Leo Osemeka, Dr Osondu Francis Ogbuli, Pedro Ofodile, Hon, Ejoor Egwuatu, Hon, Ugosinobi Ikem Mazeli and Tom Chuke, GOF seeks to enlighten residents within and outside the Onitsha Metropolis about their civic rights and duties as well as protect such rights by serving as a watchdog on government representatives at all levels especially the state and local administration during and after elections.
One of the members of the alliance, Abada Iwuchukwu said, “Let every Nigerian go out and vote and also make sure that their votes are counted and protected. Don’t collect bribes and remember that your vote counts.”
Another member of the group, Mr Austin Nonso Areh said “The Greater Onitsha Foundation wants people to get their PVCs and exercise their voting rights. People should not sell their votes if they want credible people to be elected into public offices.” Your vote is your power, use it wisely,” he added.
