Just when you thought that the year just began, the previous weeks have left a bittersweet taste in our mouths. This week was not left out as it expressly unveiled the true intent and lifestyle of our idols. Here is a rundown of the week:

Congolese singer Koffi Olomide was given a two-year suspended prison sentence for the statutory rape of one of his former dancers when she was 15.
The 62-year-old singer went on trial after four former dancers claimed he sexually assaulted them several times between 2002 and 2006. The assaults allegedly happened in the Democratic Republic of Congo as well as in France where the women said they were held against their will.
They said they managed to make a night-time escape in June 2006, and have not returned to their country since for fear of reprisals.

The never-ending war between former members of the defunct Plantashun Boiz reared its ugly head again after Blackface released a diss track titled War 15 years after their fight began. In the track, he alleges that 2baba is not only gay, but he also stole his songs. He had previously alleged that he did not receive royalties from African Queen, a song he co-wrote with 2baba. It should be recalled that 2baba took the singer to court asking him to pay him the sum of N50 million for the defamation of character.

A football-mad couple in France has been barred from naming their son “Griezmann Mbappe” after two of the stars of France’s World Cup-winning team. The baby who is A local official who deemed that “Griezmann Mbappe” — after Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann and Paris Saint-Germain’s Kylian Mbappe — was “contrary to the child’s interest” referred the case to the public prosecutor. Other names to have run afoul of the law in France in recent years include “Jihad”. “Jihad” can also mean a personal and non-violent struggle against sin for Muslims in France, authorities said.

The above statement was added to the Nigerian lexicon this week after a primary school girl in Delta state, Success expressed her pain at her school sending her home because she had not paid her fees of N12,000. While the headmaster allegedly got suspended, a lot of Nigerians promised to fund her education until her university level. The Delta state government was not left out as it offered her parents some money and promised to see that her needs are met. As for the school, it is currently under construction.

Entrepreneur and philanthropist, Olakunle Churchill, the ex-husband of actress, Tonto Dikeh has revealed he met the Nollywood star at a nightclub. In an exclusive interview, he denied allegations he squatted with the mother of one during their relationship. Churchill stated that the drama that occurred between him and his ex played out like a “movie script” and mocked her statement that she was the breadwinner. “Is she the Nigerians President’s daughter?” he questioned. He claimed that he was “already one of the most successful young millionaires in Africa” when they met.
