A foremost Nigerian Labour leader, Issa Aremu has urged President Buhari to prevent Tuesday’s January 8 planned national protest of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) over the non implementation of the N30, 000 minimum wage for the nation’s workers.

Aremu, a former National Deputy President of the NLC but now Governorship candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in Kwara state, canvassed speedy Presidential submission of the Executive Bill on the minimum wage to the National Assembly as a way of averting the protest. He spoke yesterday with reporters in Ilorin at the sideline of his meeting with some market women ahead of this year’s General Elections.

Aremu while lamenting the alleged poor road network of Kwara North Senatorial District said the neglect of the roads by successive governments in Kwara had been a major reason for food scarcity and exorbitant costs of staple food in the state. Aremu, who said his parents were local butchers, challenged the state government to build modern and befitting market centres for the marketers as a way of boosting the socio economic developments of the 52 year old state.
