The bi-annual Lagos Beach Rugby Competition took place again on the sandy beaches of Hardrock Café in Oniru on November 17.

The Lagos Beach Rugby in its 3rd Edition was setup by fans of the game to bring tourism and sport together.

The format features eight teams in a 3 on 3 touch rugby competition, which includes rolling substitutes. Each team has a corporate sponsor, which brings competition and rivalry to the tournament giving bragging rights to the eventual winning team and sponsor.

In the November 3rd edition, the tournament was won by team ‘Wolf Pack’ a team consisting of mixed team of everyday professionals and executives. They beat team Las Esqueletos in extra time to eventually win 35-25. Both teams had previously met in the group stages, but Wolf Pack was able to turn around the result in the final and lifted the coveted Lagos Beach Rugby Cup.

It was another great day full of fast running and exciting rugby. The Lagos Beach Team was able to bring the expat, diaspora and local community together in teams that consisted of amateurs and some old semi-professional’s players. With an amazing view of the Atlantic, Lagos beach rugby fans were able to enjoy an amazing day at Hard Rock Café beach, having great food, ice cold drinks whilst watching live international rugby on the big screen.
