Members of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria on Saturday demanded justice for the death of one Timothy Adegoke, a Master’s student at the Obafemi Awolowo University.

The PUNCH had reported that Adegoke went to Ile-Ife to sit an exam at the OAU Distance Learning Centre, Moro campus, when he was declared missing on November 7.

It was learnt that Adegoke had lodged in Hilton hotel located in Ile-Ife, Osun State between October 22 and November 5, 2021, before he was later declared missing.

Adegoke’s body was discovered after some suspects, including workers at the hotel, were arrested by the police.

In a letter dated November 20, 2021, obtained by The PUNCH, some ICAN members stated that justice must be served for the dead student, describing Adegoke as “our very own”.

The letter, titled, ‘Re: We Mourn Our Colleague- Adegoke, Timothy Oluwadamilare, ACA (MB35866)’ was signed by ‘Concerned Members of the Institute’ and addressed to the ICAN president.

In the letter, the members called on the institute to ensure that justice is served.

It partly read, “We belong to the ICAN body whom, without a tincture of doubt, remains the one of the most revered and forward-thinking accounting bodies all over the world, and of course, throughout the history of mankind.

It is against this backdrop that we, concerned members of the institute, call on ICAN to take this matter head-on.

“Whilst we commend the ICAN body for issuing out a publication yesterday, we vehemently are of the opinion that more can be done to cushion the effect of the loss on the immediate family of Timothy, and most desirably, bring the perpetrators to book.

“It is equally important to note that this masterfully orchestrated actions by these bloodsucking cacodemonic ogres of Hilton Hotel, Ile-Ife can have anyone, regardless of how painstakingly meticulous one is, caught in their cobwebs of barbaric bloodletting.

“By virtue of our profession and routine of our work as auditors which require traveling and lodging into a hotel for a number of days to discharge our clients’ assignments, this incident can happen to anyone, and at any time.

“We hope our noble institute of repute will stand by the family of the deceased at this crucial time to ensure justice is duly served, without fear or favour.”
