ICPC charges federal lawmakers on constituency projects |

The Independent Corrupt Practices and other related Offences Commission (ICPC) has implored the federal lawmakers to prioritise completion of constituency projects.

Its chairman, Prof. Bolaji Owasanoye, who gave the charge in a lecture for the second batch of the newly elected legislators in Abuja, stated that it was disheartening to see representatives of the people in the legislature feign ignorance of non-completion of projects after they had masterminded their inclusion in the appropriation bill.

In his address titled, The Legislature and Fight against Graft and Corruption, Owasanoye advised the National Assembly to make his expenditure and earnings open for scrutiny to avoid the unhealthy suspicion in some quarters.

He noted that the budget of the legislators had increased from N6.9 billion in 1999 to N139 billion in 2018 without any increase in membership.
