Igbobi College Yaba and Queens College Yaba on Thursday emerged champions of the Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank) Lagos State Season Seven Master Cup in the boys and girls’ categories of the competition played at the Agege Stadium.

In the final of the boys’ category, Igbobi College defeated Kings College Lagos 2-0.

In the first half of the match, the Igbobi boys showed reasons why they needed the trophy so badly, as they piled up pressure on Kings College boys, which ended with no goal at the end of the first stanza.

At the start of the second half, the Igbobi boys again continued domination until they were handed a penalty converted by Akanni Ramon.

Ikechukwu Uka then took the game beyond the Kings boys’ reach from a wonderful strike which the Kings College goalkeeper couldn’t deal with to make it 2-0 for the new champion.

Earlier, Queens College again proved why they are the school to beat when it comes to the Masters Cup championship for the girls.

The five-time winner once again successfully defended her title after beaten Ansar-ud-deen Girls High School, Itire 1-0, to lift the trophy for the sixth consecutive times.

For their efforts, Igbobi College and Queens colleges won prize money of N750,000 each for both events of the competition.

Igbobi boys’ captain and scorer of their first goal, Ramon emerged the most valuable player (MVP), while Ademola of Ansar-Ud-Deen won the prize for the girls.

Speaking on his award, Ramon expressed his delight at being named the MVP of the boys’ category of the competition as well as winning the trophy for his school.
