While many of the voters could not assert reasons why the officials were not around as at the time of filling this report, findings by our correspondent revealed that the ad hoc staff action may be connected with delay in payment of the officials.
“I think why they (INEC ad hoc staff) have not been around since is because they haven’t been paid,” a resident, Oluchi, told our correspondent.
“Many of them complained they are being owed. And this was not so last time during the Presidential and National Assembly elections.”
Other residents, who spoke to our correspondent expressed disappointment in INEC.
“We have been here since 7:00am and till now (11:00am), no officials have arrived. This is not good at all.”
