IPC/Agitos para-powerlifting technical workshop thrills Dalung

Youths and Sports Minister, Solomon Dalung has commended the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) for bringing the just concluded Para-Powerlifting seminar /workshop to Nigeria. The workshop is the first of its kind to be hosted in Africa.

Speaking at the three-day technical seminar held from August 10 to 12 at the Sheraton Hotel and Towers, Ikeja, Lagos, Dalung said the workshop aimed at developing the Nigeria Paralympic Committee.

He also praised the 14 countries that featured in the exercise for their ability to make it to the programme and challenged them to go back to their various stations and put what they have learnt into practice

The Minister, who was represented by the Director, Fields, at the Sports Ministry, also thanked the sponsors of the workshop, AGITOS Foundation, as powered by Toyota, for considering Nigeria good enough to host the event, which is happening for the first time in Africa.

He added that Nigeria would continue to extend its hand of fellowship to other Africa countries and also strive to attract more of such developmental programmes to the continent.

The senior Manager of AGITOS Foundation, Jose Cabo said the main aim of their foundation is to develop NPC’S in Africa and chose Nigeria as the first pot of call.

The 60 participants at the seminar were drawn from Burundi, Cameroun, Cape Verde, Congo DR, Ethiopia, Guinea Bissau, Cote d’Ivoire, Kenya, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Tanzania and host country, Nigeria.
