Just In: Makinde Presents Staff Of Office To New Alaafin

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has officially presented the staff of office to the 46th Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Akeem Abimbola Owoade.

The presentation of the staff of office to the new Alaafin marked the formal ascension of the monarch to the revered throne.
The ceremony took place on Monday at the Governor’s Office, Secretariat, Ibadan.

It was attended by dignitaries, traditional rulers, government officials, and enthusiastic indigenes of Oyo.
Governor Makinde described Oba Owoade as a leader well-suited to uphold the cultural and historical heritage of the Oyo Kingdom.
According to the governor, the Alaafin of Oyo is not just a traditional ruler but a custodian of rich history and tradition.
In his remark, Oba Owoade expressed gratitude to the people of Oyo and pledged to prioritise the development of the kingdom and the welfare of its residents.
Oba Owoade succeeded the late Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III, whose reign lasted for five decades.

Oba Adeyemi joined his ancestors two years ago.
