However, INEC cancelled 20,157 votes and declared the election inconclusive.

The PDP candidate had on Thursday submitted a petition demanding for the postponement of the rerun election, after faulting the declaration of results from polling units where electoral violence was recorded.

But INEC on Thursday commenced the distribution of electoral materials to the polling units where the election will be held.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner, Prof James Apam, said, “We are ready. All the materials are here and we are set to receive them from the Central Bank of Nigeria. The charge is that the people should come out to cast their votes and conduct themselves in a peaceful manner and for the politicians to be mindful of their conduct.”

Meanwhile, Melaye has asked the INEC to maintain the status quo, pending the determination of his case filed before a Federal High Court in Abuja.

According to him, INEC should stop the supplementary election in Kogi West scheduled for Saturday.

He drew attention of the commission to the case accompanied by motions for an interim and interlocutory injunction restraining INEC from proceeding with the supplementary election.
