Kwara Falcons at the weekend emerged champions of the Atlantic Conference Six play-off of the Kwese Premier League by winning all their five matches. They join Kano Pillars, which won the Savannah Conference held in Kaduna, in the Final Eight.

The Atlantic Conferences, which had six teams, was held at the Indoor Sports Hall of the Kwara Sports Complex, Ilorin. Only four teams qualified from the Conference for the Final Eight, which has been scheduled for Kano from September 4 to 9.

Kwara Falcons, tutored by Adewunmi Aderemi, defeated all their five opponents, Police Batons 106 to 70, Oluyole Warriors 77 to 67, Customs 84 to 73, Hoops and Read 78 to 73 and Rivers Hoopers in the final game.

In the Atlantic Conference, Rivers Hoopers placed second, Hoops and Read came third and Customs fourth. Police Batons and Oluyole Warriors didn’t make the Final Eight.

Falcons’ coach, Adewunmi Aderemi said his team would return to training as soon as possible to get the needed fitness for the Final Eight. “My dream is to pick a continental club ticket for the club.

“We shall try our best to win vital games in Kano when the Final Eight begins. We won’t let the Atlantic Conference victory enter the heads of our players because the journey is still far and I believe strongly that, we shall make a very big impact in the Final Eight.”
