This was contained in a statement by the government titled, ‘LASPPPA Warns Against Haphazard Development.’

In the statement, Osinaike stated that residents should desist from using their property for purposes other than those approved by the Agency.

The General Manager condemned the practice of converting residential buildings into commercial use by property owners in the area without necessary authorisation by LASPPPA.

As a result, Osinaike directed the sealing of some buildings for non-compliance with building regulations and conversion of residential buildings into commercial use without authorisation.

He further pleaded with the general public to desist from illegal development in the collective interest of all residents.

The Coordinator, Monitoring and Compliance Unit, LASPPPA, Olarinde Iyiola, remarked that the enforcement exercise was to bring defaulting property owners to book.

He stated that those who have gone against the State’s Physical Planning Laws and Regulations, were made to comply with the Operative Development Plan of the area.

Iyiola disclosed that no fewer than 78 commercial and residential buildings and structures from Allen Roundabout to Opebi in Ikeja Local Government of Lagos State have been sealed, adding that 144 buildings were also served contravention notices in October 2021.
