He was said to have been rushed to a hospital where he succumbed to the injuries he sustained during the clash.

When news of his death filtered in on Monday, his friends and loyalists took to the streets in protest.

During the protest, the mourners reportedly clashed with those suspected to be involved in the death.

The clash was said to have created tension as policemen were deployed in the area.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, said investigation was ongoing into the incident.

He said, “The fight is among Okada riders and the Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alabi, has deployed RRS patrol vehicles in that place to complement the efforts of the Ayobo Divisional Police Officer.

“There was a street fight two days ago and somebody was stabbed and taken to a hospital. He died this morning (Monday) and that was what caused the fight. The person who killed the victim has been arrested and normalcy has been restored in the area.”

In another development, some hoodlums between Friday and Sunday attacked the Ayobo Housing Scheme Extension, in the Oshin area of Ayobo.

The suspects, numbering about four, allegedly shot two persons dead and kidnapped three people, including two sisters.

The deceased were said to have attempted to prevent the attacks.

The police spokesperson, Hundeyin, said one person linked to the attack had been arrested, adding that efforts were on to secure the release of those kidnapped.

He noted that the assailants invaded the community from Ogun State.

Hundeyin said, “One person has been arrested; links were established between that person and the people that came to perpetrate the act and the suspect is assisting the police with investigations.

“The people behind the incident actually came in from Ogun State, as the area is a border town between Lagos and Ogun states. They came in, committed the act and crossed back into Ogun State.

“The CP has deployed some tactical teams in that place and there is heavy police presence there so that the people there won’t panic. Calm has been restored.”
