Lagos Seals Religious Centres, Hotels, Others For Noise Pollution

The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA), in its enforcement drive against environmental infractions, on Wednesday, sealed off several facilities across the state for noise pollution and other breaches.

The operation was carried out across various locations within the Mainland axis, including Onike ,Yaba, China Town, Ojota, Pedro, Bariga, Magodo, Shomolu, and Ebute Metta.

In a statement on Friday, the agency revealed that the enforcement targeted a variety of establishments such as religious institutions, hotels, residential buildings, warehouses, and bakeries.

Among those shut down were Suit Las Caracas, Forest Guzu Xinlong Zhongnia Horn Co. Ltd., Success Bakery, Occupants of multiple residential apartment, CCC Church and CCC Training Seminary, JP Ventures Bakery, and Aliya Bakery.

The General Manager LASEPA,Dr Babatunde Ajayi, reiterated the agency’s firm stance against environmental violations, just as he emphasised that noise pollution poses serious risks to public health and community well-being.

“Our enforcement today is a clear message that we are committed to protecting the environment and ensuring a healthier Lagos,” he stated.

Ajayi further called on all organisations and residents to adhere strictly to environmental laws, re-affirming LASEPA’s mission to foster a cleaner and more sustainable city for all.(Guardian)
