The Lagos State Sports Commission has released guidelines for the reconstitution of the boards of its associations, which were dissolved by the body to enable it rejig and reposition ‘rejig and reposition’ their activities.

This, it said, was in line with the vision of the Akinwunmi Ambode led administration to make Lagos Africa’s sports hub.The commission said in a statement yesterday, “in line with the Lagos State Sports Commission law 2017, each board shall have a maximum of six persons. The associations shall also have at least one female member on each proposed association board as part of the gender inclusive policy of the state government.”

The statement quotes the chairman of the Commission, Dr. Kweku Adedayo Tandoh, as saying that any association chairman, “who has served for the immediate past two consecutive terms, or more (from Year 2008 or earlier), shall not be eligible to serve as chairman of the same sports association.

“In the same vein, any sports association chairman, who is currently the president or vice president of any National Sports Federation shall not be eligible to serve as chairman of the proposed state association board but can be a member, if he/she is selected.”

Tandoh added that technical directors should no longer be appointed for any sports association, insisting that each association would be expected to have a technical committee headed by one of its board members.

“Finally, each of the sports associations will have a Media Spokesperson attached to it to be nominated by the Lagos State Chapter of the Sports Writer’s Association of Nigeria  (SWAN),” he added.
