The Government of Lagos State on Thursday said it had commenced training for some council workers drawn from the 20 local government areas and 22 local council development areas of the state.

It noted that the training, being facilitated by the Lagos State Public Service Staff Development Centre, Magodo, would enable the workers to advance their public service career and improve their efficiency.

The nine-month training would also expose the participants to various subjects, including local government laws, finance and accounts, administration and comparative local government, among others, a statement on Thursday said.

The Director-General of PSSDC, Dr. Senukon Ajose- Harrison, who spoke at the opening session of the training, was said to have stressed the role local government workers played in community development being the yardstick for measuring government performance.
