Lawmaker Supports 2,500 Vulnerable People

The federal lawmaker representing Lagos East Senatorial District, Adetokunbo Abiru, has said 2,500 vulnerable people in his constituency have benefitted from his monthly financial support.

Abiru said this in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Enitan Olukotun, on Tuesday.

He said, “True to the promise of providing succour to vulnerable constituents impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, direct cash transfers were made to batch A of 2500 vulnerable constituents, which include people living with physical disabilities, unemployed youths, widows and other vulnerable people in the senatorial district.

“The beneficiaries who have been receiving direct credits since January 2021 were drawn from the 98 wards of the 16 local governments and local council development areas in Lagos East.”

Abiru added that brilliant but indigent students in his constituency have also received bursaries.

“As part of interventions and programmes targeted at the larger number of people in the constituency are 600 brilliant but indigent students who have benefited from bursaries.

“These beneficiaries were shortlisted in a transparent process drawn from several higher institutions in Lagos State and beyond,” he said.
