The Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS) has announced a further extension of the deadline for filing individual annual income tax returns to April 21, 2026.
The agency said the decision follows an earlier extension to April 14 and a noticeable surge in traffic on its electronic tax filing platform, as taxpayers rush to meet the deadline.

In a statement signed by its Head of Corporate Communications, Monsurat Amasa-Oyelude, LIRS expressed appreciation to taxpayers for their compliance and commitment, noting that the increased activity on the eTax platform necessitated additional time to accommodate all users.
According to the agency, the extension is aimed at providing taxpayers with adequate opportunity to successfully complete their filings while ensuring the accuracy and integrity of submissions.
LIRS reiterated that filing annual income tax returns remains a statutory obligation and urged taxpayers to take advantage of what it described as the final extension.

The Executive Chairman of LIRS, Ayodele Subair, also emphasised that all submissions must be made electronically via the official eTax platform, the only approved channel for filing.
Taxpayers seeking assistance are advised to visit any LIRS office or contact the agency through its official communication channels.
