Lyno World, an art based organisation in collaboration with the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) scheme, Lagos State, has concluded plans to hold an art exhibition tagged: ‘NYSC Camp Art Challenge.’

Scheduled for December 3, the event will be part of the activities for the 2017 Batch ‘B’ orientation programme that began on November 21, at Iyana-Ipaja, Lagos.

According release sent to The Guardian, the CEO, Lyno World, Eyimiegha Linus, stated that the programme aims at sensitising corps members interested in participating in the impending 2018 Lagos Corps Members Art exhibition, which is the outfit’s long term goal for corps members in the arts –– drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, graphics, animation, fashion design, makeup –– and related art careers, irrespective of their discipline. Interested participants will be giving every procedural support and guidance.

He disclosed that Yaba College of Technology School of Art, Design and Printing Technology, the Cartoonists’ Association of Nigeria and other professional art bodies and institutions would be present at the competition, saying with the exhibition/competition, his organisation wants to meet youths with artistic skills and potentials that need the necessary encouragement.

Linus disclosed, “outstanding participants will be recognised and giving the required encouragement to breakeven in the industry. They will gain publicity among their peers and meet prospective patrons as well. While skilled draftsmen among the corps members are contesting, there will be sufficient art materials for others that want to express themselves playfully with art, as we want corps members to catch fun that day doing something artistic.”

According to the release, the completion is designed to be in three rounds; juries will select works done on the first round, and at the final round non-contesting corps members will vote from among the best four. Works from the competition will be featured in the upcoming exhibition for corps members to see.
